Christina McChristian, (Wellness Therapies) Certified Rolfer® in Portland, Maine

In today’s world of hectic lifestyles, stressful jobs, and lack of natural exercise, our bodies suffer from lack of flexibility and structural integrity. As a result, we succumb to headaches, backaches, indigestion, constipation, immune system deficiency (leading to frequent illness), and emotional malaise.

With regular treatment from Christina, Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Rolfer®, the feeling of being disjointed, knotted, and tense disappears. Freedom of movement returns and overall well-being follows. Christina offers a solution to maintaining wellness through traditional massage therapy and structure-integrating Rolfing® Technique.

Structural Integration is the whole body approach to well-being.

If you can imagine how it feels to live in a fluid, light, balanced body, free of pain, stiffness and chronic stress, at ease with itself and with gravity, then you will understand the goals of your treatment with Christina.

She applies a holistic process of body re-education and manual manipulation focusing on the body’s connective tissue that surrounds and supports every muscle, bone, joint, and organ in the body.

Christina’s masterful techniques work to release set-in holding patterns that cause tension, discomfort, and pain, and restore unencumbered movement and proper alignment for ultimate well-being.

After a thorough evaluation of the client's structure and movement patterns, Christina uses hands, arms, and elbows to loosen and lengthen the fascial sheaths surrounding specific muscles and joints. Health is restored to overworked tissues. The body is organized in the vertical line and no longer strains to hold itself up against gravity.

Clients are encouraged to actively participate in their own healing process by accessing their bodies' innate intelligence, an inner memory of what it is to be "right". If you give the body information regarding possibilities for efficient and effortless use in rest and in movement, the body can heal itself and develop a refreshing and re-energizing sense of well-being.

“Form and function are a unity, two sides of one coin. In order to enhance function, appropriate form must exist or be created.”
